E. Jakarta KPKP Targets to Sterilize 500 Cats This Year

The East Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture and Food Security Sub-agency (KPKP) targets to sterilize 500 cats this year.

All regions are targeting the sterilization of 500 domestic cats

East Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency Head, Ali Nurdin said cat sterilization would start from June to December. It was realized in synergy with the Indonesian Veterinary Association (PDHI) and the Jakarta KPKP Agency.

"According to the joint agreement, all regions are targeting the sterilization of 500 domestic cats. This number is still the same as the 2023 target," he expressed, Friday (1/19).

It was focused on each sub-district with the location determined by PDHI with the local private clinic. His party only prepared participants whose owners had registered with his office.

East Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency's Animal Husbandry and Health Division Head, Theresia Ellita explained the sterilization was aimed at controlling the cat population in his area. Moreover, cat breeding was quite rapid at all times.

"All sterilized cats certainly meet the requirements. That is they are in good health, at least eight months old, not pregnant and breastfeeding," she explained.

Last year, she added, her party sterilized 100 female cats and 400 male cats. It was conducted within four months, starting in May, July, September, and October.

"Every month, there are 100 male cats and 25 female cats," she closed.
